FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Eek-A-Mouse-Spring Performance Cancellation Notice-

United States of America, 4/23/2010

Dear Promoters, Fans, Supporters of   Eek-A-Mouse,

It has become our unfortunate responsibility to inform everyone that Eek-A-Mouse will have to cancel all U.S. live performance engagements through May 23rd due to not being allowed to re-enter the United States by US Immigration resurfacing two misdemeanors dating back to 1984 and 1988 that the record then shows EAM was released of all charges in a legal court of law.  We have desperately been working on remedying the situation since April 7th.  When the first denial was imposed on EAM.  There was optimism that this denial could be overturned in a timely manner to allow EAM to make his scheduled performances. After several attempts and procedures to overturn the immigration departments decision; as of April 23rd. the U.S. embassy Amsterdam immigration department ruled the denial to remain effective pending further documentation to be presented to change the department’s decision to be a favorable one.

As all fans and supporters of Mouse know, he has been touring in and out of the United States for well over 20 years without issue.  This inconsistency in the Department of Immigration’s handling of Mouse’s reentry into America is most likely due to current events relating to the stand-off happening between the United States and Jamaican Governments.  This issue is regarding the extradition of a well-known member of the Jamaican Labor Party (JLP) back to America on weapons and drug charges.  Pressure from the United States has increased since August of 2009 culminating in this attempted final blow by the United States to put pressure on the Jamaican Government by revoking the visas of prominent Jamaicans in the entertainment and business world.

Unfortunately, Eek-A-Mouse and other Jamaicans have become the casualties in the struggle between these two governments, not to mention those here in the states whose livelihood co-exists with Jamaican artist’s ability to do business here in the U.S.

The last groups of people affected in this blanket attempt to bring one man to justice by vindicating the many are the fans that will be denied the ability to gather with like-minded individuals and friends to enjoy and appreciate the music and culture of this specific part of the world.

While we all hope for a swift and fair resolution to this issue by our government, those connected to Eek-A-Mouse’s touring efforts in America have obtained the council of an attorney specializing in immigration issues.  In the mean time Mouse will maintain a residence in Amsterdam while working with said attorneys to resolve this issue.

Sincerely,
Ric Bracamontes
